Text
Purpose
Places free text into the drawing — title, material note, remark, item designation. The text can have several lines, stand rotated and carry a link.
Access
- Ribbon: group “Annotate” — collapsed at 1400 pixels, the chevron opens the list, entry “Text” Text (1).
- Classic toolbar: a button of its own next to the “Dimension” family.
- Key X.
- Command search : “text” (category Annotate).
Procedure
- Call the tool — the dialog “Text” opens immediately.
- Type the text; Enter creates a line break, confirmation is by “OK” only.
- Set height, angle, font, anchor point, bold/italic and a link if required.
- After “OK” the text hangs on the pointer by its anchor point — the preview shows the bounding box of the text, not the letters. Every click places a copy; Esc or a right-click ends the series.
Anchor point
The grid in the dialog sets which part of the text the insertion point sits at — left/centre/right and top/middle/bottom. When you change the anchor point of an existing text, the text stays where it looks; only the anchor jumps.
Editing
A double-click on the text opens the same dialog with its values; after “OK” the status bar reports “Text changed”. Colour, layer and Z level are in the panel “Properties”.
Only http and https addresses are allowed as a link; an address without a scheme is completed with https://. Otherwise the status bar reports “Only http/https links are supported — link removed”.
Effect
Every placement is an undo step of its own. The text is created on the active layer; height, font and anchor point are remembered as the default for the next text.
