Scale

Purpose#

Scale enlarges or reduces the selected elements by a factor — relative to a base point that stays in place. Factor 2 doubles all dimensions, 0.5 halves them.

Access#

• Ribbon: group Modify, triangle on the button Mirror — Scale (5).
• Classic toolbar: drop-down triangle of the family Mirror (2).
• Command search : Scale.
• Without a selection, post-selection begins (Scale: click the base point... after accepting).

Procedure#

1. Select elements, start the tool.
2. Click the base point (1) — with snap. The status line reports Enter the factor or drag the mouse, click/Enter confirms..., the field Faktor: appears with 1.000.
3. Set the factor (2): drag the mouse away from the base point — the distance to the pointer relative to the distance at the base click gives the factor, the preview follows — and click; or type the factor and accept with Enter.

The status line confirms Scaled: factor 1.500 (5 elements). Factor 1 changes nothing; values ≤ 0 are rejected (The factor must be > 0).

Options and relations#

• Dimensions of the selected elements are scaled along — their dimension texts then show the new values; hatches are re-bounded.
• Constraints of the scaled elements are removed.
• Texts are scaled including their font height; weld points move along when all participating elements are selected.
• The gizmo offers scaling with a factor field in place.
