Rotate

Purpose#

Rotate turns the selected elements with their dimensions and hatches around a pivot that you set with snap. You determine the angle with the mouse — the preview turns along — or type it into the floating field.

Access#

• Ribbon: group Modify, triangle on the button Mirror — Rotate (2).
• Classic toolbar: drop-down triangle of the family Mirror (2).
• Command search : Rotate.
• Without a selection, post-selection begins (Rotate: click the pivot after accepting).

Procedure#

1. Select elements, start the tool.
2. Click the pivot (1) — with snap, e.g. a hole centre. The status line reports Rotation point set — set the angle with the mouse or enter it + Enter, the field ∠ appears.
3. Set the angle (2): move the mouse — the angle from the pivot to the pointer applies, the preview follows — and click; or type the angle in degrees and accept with Enter. Positive angles rotate counter-clockwise.

The status line confirms Rotated by 27.50°. If the pointer is on the pivot when clicking, no angle can be formed (Angle too small). A typed value takes precedence over the mouse position.

Options and relations#

• Dimensions attached to selected elements rotate along; selected free dimensions and hatches as well. Selections of dimensions only are allowed.
• Constraints of the rotated elements are removed — Horizontal or Vertical might no longer hold after the rotation.
• The rotation angle of the gizmo snaps in steps from the settings; the tool Rotate takes any angle. For exact angles type the value.
• Copies at an angular spacing are created by the polar array.
