Messages about start, files, selection and navigation

Messages appear in the status bar at the bottom or as a confirmation prompt of the browser. The texts are given here as the program shows them; placeholders such as n or name stand for the respective value.

Program start#

Ready — choose a tool or use a keyboard shortcut · v_1.0.5_ · #n#

Status bar after the start; n is the start counter of this computer. The version note is hard-coded in the program and does not match the program version (Program start). No remedy needed.

Ready#

Status bar after every finished drawing command: no tool is drawing at the moment. Since program version v3.0.33 this only applies when the tool did not set a message of its own while finishing: a success message such as Arc length dimension placed or a hint such as 3 points are collinear now stays visible and is no longer overwritten right away. If a command ends or is cancelled without a message of its own, Ready appears as before.

Disclaimer confirmed — the info box is no longer shown automatically at startup#

After setting the checkbox in the info box. The default drawing is no longer loaded from the next start on.

Files#

New drawing#

Status bar after New drawing.

Discard unsaved changes?#

Browser prompt before New drawing, Open and dropping a .cad2d file when the drawing has been changed. Remedy: Cancel, then Save, then again.

Opened: file (n elements, m dimensions) / Opened: file (n elements) / View fitted automatically on load#

Status bar after loading; without native file access without the dimension count. Appends · View fitted automatically on load if the saved view lay beside the drawing.

Opened (drop): file (n elements)#

After dropping a .cad2d file on the drawing area.

DXF opened: n entities from file / SVG opened: n entities from file#

After Open of a DXF or SVG file: a new drawing with the elements; afterwards the check Check & clean up drawing opens.

DXF imported (drop): n entities / SVG imported (drop): n entities#

After dropping a DXF or SVG file: the elements were inserted into the existing drawing and the view was fitted. One undo step takes the import back.

DXF error: reason / SVG error: reason#

The dropped file could not be read; the reason comes from the program’s parser. Remedy: export the DXF as ASCII (not binary) and the SVG without embedded raster images; if in doubt load the file through “Open” instead of dropping it — the error text is the same there, but the file type is checked first.

No entities in the DXF / No entities in the SVG#

The dropped file contained nothing readable. Remedy: export the file anew in the source program (DXF as ASCII, SVG without embedded raster images).

Image inserted (drop): file#

After dropping an image file; the image lies in the centre of the picture at half pixel size.

Only .cad2d, .dxf, .svg or image files#

A file of another type was dropped. Remedy: convert to a supported format.

Error while loading: reason / Error: reason#

The file could not be read (damaged, no JSON, foreign format with wrong extension). Remedy: check the file; open a backup copy.

Saved: name.cad2d#

After Save or Save As with native file access.

Downloaded: name.cad2d#

After Save in Firefox or Safari: the file lies in the browser's download folder (Saving).

Loading drawing …#

Waiting overlay above the drawing area while a large file (from about 300 KB) is being built. It disappears by itself. A progress bar is not possible because the build runs in one go.

Not a LiberoDraft drawing (.cad2d)#

Import drawing received a file without LiberoDraft signature. Remedy: choose a .cad2d file saved with LiberoDraft.

Drawing "name" inserted at original coordinates · n sheet(s) imported#

After Import with at original coordinates; the addition appears only with Import sheets as well.

The file contains no importable geometry#

The source file contains no elements. No remedy in the program.

Selection and changing#

Undo / Redo#

Status bar after Ctrl + Z or Ctrl + Y. If nothing appears, the respective list was empty.

Grip placed#

An endpoint or midpoint grip was put down with the second click.

Gizmo pivot set / No line at the cursor / No endpoint nearby#

Feedback of the gizmo picks Set pivot, Align to line and Choose endpoint. Remedy for the two error messages: click closer to the element or endpoint (Gizmo).

Gizmo ON / Gizmo OFF#

After Ctrl + Shift + G.

Cancelled — select mode#

Esc ends everything that is running — unfinished drawing steps, placements, measurements, pick modes — and switches back to the selection tool. The exception is the double line: there Esc executes the started run and switches to the side choice. An open dialog catches Esc first and only closes itself.

Element is hidden by the selection filter#

Status bar when an object was under the click but the selection filter excludes it. Remedy: allow the object type in the filter again or switch the filter off.

Selection filter active: summary / Selection filter off — all objects selectable#

Status bar after “OK” in the “Selection filter” dialog. The first one lists what stays selectable; the filter acts on single clicks and on the rubber band and is stored with the settings, so it still applies after the next program start. The button in the status bar stays highlighted while the filter is active.

Cancelled#

A right-click has ended a running operation (for example dragging a viewport).

Navigation#

Window zoom: frame an area (press a corner and drag, or two clicks) — stays active, ESC or right mouse button ends it · Window zoom: frame the next area — ESC or right mouse button ends it · Window zoom ended#

Instruction after W (Zoom window). after every framed area and at the end. The mode stays active, so you can frame several areas one after another; it ends only with Esc or the right mouse button. A tiny frame (below four screen pixels) is discarded without leaving the mode.

Snap and coordinates#

Snap mode: name#

After every change of the snap mode; with Distance from endpoint with the addition — n mm from the nearest endpoint (line/arc).

Please enter a distance greater than 0#

Status bar in the small dialog of the snap “distance from endpoint” when the field is empty, zero or negative. The dialog stays open. Remedy: enter a positive value in millimetres; only then does the program switch to this snap.

Snap mode → automatic (geometry tool)#

A drawing tool has set the snap to automatic; the option can be switched off in the Settings dialog (Snap to automatic).

Midpoint between 2 points: click the first point (with snap) · Midpoint between 2 points: click the second point (with snap) · Midpoint between 2 points adopted · Midpoint between 2 points: cancelled#

The four steps of the helper snap “midpoint between 2 points” (Shift + M). After the call the next two clicks do not snap geometry but set the two reference points; the running drawing step then receives their midpoint. Calling Shift + M again cancels. The helper snap only works inside a drawing tool, not with the selection tool.

Coordinate entry: choose a drawing tool first (line, rectangle, circle, arc, polyline, point)#

K was pressed without a suitable drawing tool. Remedy: choose the tool, then K.

Coordinate entry applies to the start point — this function is already drawing#

K after the first click. Remedy: Esc, choose the tool anew, K before the first click; type further points relatively in the input field.

Start point: X / Y (absolute coordinate) · ⇄ switches to polar · Enter#

Instruction during coordinate entry in cartesian mode. The ⇄ button in the floating field switches to polar, Enter sets the start point and hands over to the chosen drawing tool.

Start point: length / angle from the origin · ⇄ switches to X/Y · Enter#

The same instruction in polar mode: the field expects length and angle, both measured from the origin.

Next line — click or enter the endpoint (ESC/right-click = finish)#

Status bar while Line continues a run: after every line placed, the next one hangs on the last endpoint. Entry is relative to that point; Enter with length 0 finishes the run, as do Esc and the right-click.

Measuring#

Point mode: click the reference point / Reference point: origin#

After Bezug setzen or ↺ in the window Measure.

Measured values copied / Nothing to copy / Copy not possible#

After Kopieren. Copy not possible: the browser refused access to the clipboard. Remedy: open the page via https or copy the values from the window by hand.

Centroid inserted as a point / No centroid available#

Status bar after “Insert centroid as point” in the Measure window. The button only appears for a measurement with an area; the second one is the fallback when the last measured geometry yields no centroid. The inserted point is an ordinary point element and can be snapped.

Keine Elemente gewaehlt#

Status bar on “Done” of the manual area measurement when no boundary element was clicked. Remedy: click the boundary element by element until it closes, then “Done”.

Model values through viewport#

Line in the window Measure: the measurement went through a viewport of the paper space and shows model dimensions.

Tool panel#

Section torn off — ⇥ or dragging it onto the panel brings it back / Section put back into the panel#

Status bar when a section of the tool panel is dragged out of the panel or docked again (tool panel). A torn-off section floats above the drawing area; its position and width are stored with the settings. It goes back through the “⇥” button in its title row or by dragging it onto the panel — it returns to its remembered place in the order.

Panel section order saved#

Status bar after a section was dragged to another place inside the panel. The order survives the program start.
