New layout (create a sheet)
Purpose
Creates a new sheet in paper space and switches to it right away. The sheet is named “Layout n”, is A4 landscape with a 10 mm margin and already carries one viewport sitting 15 mm inside the sheet edges and showing the whole model.
Access
- Status bar: the “+” tab to the right of the sheet tabs (3) — the only way.
- No palette command: neither in the ribbon nor in the classic bar nor in the command search.
Procedure
- Click “+”. The sheet appears, its tab becomes active and the view fits the sheet with some air around it.
- The viewport gets the next standard scale 1:B that takes in the whole model (empty model: 1:1) — it is shown on the label at the bottom left of the viewport.
- If the drawing carries special line types, the prompt “Viewport scale 1:n: set the model reference scale for line type patterns to 1:n as well? …” follows (Scale).
Options
Change format, orientation and margin afterwards with Page setup (right-click the tab), and the name by double-clicking the tab.
Effect
Creating a sheet is an undo step of model space. Sheets are saved with the drawing. When switching, the program stores the view of the space you leave, clears the selection and returns to “Select”.
