Auto Snap Settings dialog
The dialog opens via ⚙ Snap at the right of the status bar or the command Auto Snap Settings. It determines which snap types the snap mode Automatic (Q) looks for at the same time and controls auto-weld. Context: Snap automatic.
Snap types of the automatic
Each row shows the symbol the pointer takes on when snapping and — where present — the key of the single snap mode of the same name. All seven are on by factory default.

The single mode looks for its type only; the automatic looks for all checked types and takes the nearest hit. Unchecked types are absent from the automatic but stay available as a single mode.
Grid snap even when the grid is hidden
Checkbox (factory on): the snap mode Grid (G) snaps to the grid crossings even when the grid is hidden with GRID. Without the checkbox the grid snap is inactive while the grid is hidden; the status bar says so when hiding: Grid hidden — grid snap still active (snap setting) or Grid hidden — grid snap inactive (changeable in the snap settings).
Auto-weld
Joins endpoints that lie very close together into one common weld point (joint) while drawing: corners and connections stay together when moving or dimensioning later. Chosen too large, actually separate, nearby lines get joined.
Auto-weld active
Checkbox (factory on). Switch it on when drawing connected contours whose corners should move together; switch it off when you deliberately draw very close but separate lines (for instance thin material thicknesses). Without the checkbox the two rows below are locked.
Couple to the actual snap
Checkbox (factory off): instead of the fixed tolerance the current snap range applies — the radius in which the pointer snaps to points. It depends on the zoom: zoomed in very small and precise, zoomed out larger; exactly what is visibly snapped gets welded. Leave it off for zoom-independent, reproducible results. With the checkbox the field Fixed tolerance is locked.
Fixed tolerance
Millimetres from 0 (factory 0.01). Endpoints within this distance are joined. The tolerance of the manual command Weld is separate and is asked for when that command is called.
OK, Cancel
OK adopts all checkboxes, saves the settings and reports Snap settings saved · auto-weld: 0.01 mm (or coupled to the snap or off). Cancel or a click beside the dialog discards.
