How do I exclude islands?
Islands — holes, slots, cut-outs — are left clear automatically by default. You need do nothing as long as Exclude islands is switched on in the dialog.
- Start Hatch.
- Check in the dialog that Exclude islands is ticked.
- Click into the area between the islands, not into an island — otherwise the island itself is hatched.
- The status bar confirms the count: Hatch created: ANSI31 (5 islands).

Island not recognized
If an island is missing from the message, its outline usually consists of several elements that only meet within the tolerance, or its line type is filtered out while Only solid lines as boundary is on. Raise the tolerance slightly, or choose the outline manually — in manual mode, clicked loops inside the area become islands.
Hatch across an island deliberately
Switch Exclude islands off before clicking the area. For existing hatches: after switching the option off, briefly move the seed point — the area is searched again without islands.

Small circles up to the radius Point markers r ≤ never count as islands but as point markers. Set the value to 0 if even the smallest circles are to be excluded.
