Import drawing

Purpose#

Fetches the content of another LiberoDraft drawing into the open drawing — to reuse parts, frames or whole assemblies. The current drawing is kept.

Access#

• File menu → ⬆ Import drawing… (3).
• Command search : import drawing.

Procedure#

1. The file dialog opens (.cad2d or .json). A file without LiberoDraft signature is rejected with Not a LiberoDraft drawing (.cad2d).
2. The dialog Import drawing shows file name, number of elements, dimensions and sheets and asks for insertion form and placement.
3. Import: with place at the mouse the content hangs in orange at the pointer; every click puts down a copy, Esc ends — as with a standard part (Placing). With at original coordinates the content is inserted immediately; the status bar reports Drawing "Name" inserted at original coordinates.
4. The import always takes place in model space; an active sheet is left for it.

Options#

• Insertion form: loose elements (recommended) — the elements are inserted individually; as one block — the content becomes a block definition and is inserted as an instance (Blocks).
• Placement: place at the mouse (click, several times possible) or insert at original coordinates.
• Import sheets as well: only with loose elements at original coordinates when the file contains sheets; the status bar adds · n sheet(s) imported.
