“Viewport” dialog (viewport settings)
Overview
The dialog appears in the middle of the screen after “⚙ Viewport settings…” in the “Viewport” menu. Its heading reads “Viewport”; elsewhere in the program the same element is called an “Ansichtsfenster”, a viewport.
(1) Scale
Two number fields “A : B”. One paper millimetre shows B/A model millimetres: 1:2 halves the size, 2:1 doubles it. Both values must be greater than 0; invalid entries have no effect. The cursor starts in field B.
If the scale was changed and the drawing carries special line types, the reference scale prompt follows “OK” (“Viewport scale 1:n: set the model reference scale for line type patterns to 1:n as well? …”).
(2) Locked (view fixed)
Freezes position, size and view. Edit, Move and Resize then disappear from the menu; double-click and dragging report “Viewport is locked — right-click opens its settings”. The label at the bottom left of the viewport gets a 🔒.
(3) Print frame with scale
Off (default): the viewport frame is visible on screen only. On: when printing and in the sheet DXF the viewport gets a thin frame (0.2 mm) with its scale as text below it (3.5 mm). In DXF these frames sit on the layer “ANSICHTSFENSTER”.
(4) Line type patterns as in the model
Off (default): the special line type patterns (barrier layer, ventilation grid, structural bonding) are computed in paper millimetres inside the viewport — true to print, independent of the viewport scale. On: the viewport computes them with the model reference scale; it then shows exactly the scaled-down model image. Print and sheet DXF follow the setting. A viewport with this box ticked no longer triggers the reference scale prompt.
(5)–(6) Layers in this viewport
A list of all layers with checkboxes: ticked = visible in this viewport. The tick acts here only — other viewports and the model are untouched. Globally hidden layers are marked “(globally hidden)” and stay invisible everywhere, whatever the tick says.
(7)–(8) Show from model
Six object types with checkboxes: Dimensions (including feature control frames, datums and balloons), Notes, Hatches, Images, Text, Leaders. Unticked, the type is missing in this viewport — on screen, in the printout and in the sheet DXF. Constraints are not offered; they never appear in viewports.
(9) Copy, Delete, Cancel, OK
- “Copy”: immediately creates a copy offset by 10 mm and closes the dialog (“Viewport copied”); unlike the menu entry it also takes over the lock.
- “Delete” (red): removes the viewport and closes the dialog (“Viewport deleted — Undo restores it”).
- “Cancel” or Esc: discards everything.
- “OK” or Enter: applies scale, switches and both filter lists as one undo step.
