Welding a contour with gaps

Goal#

An imported contour consists of lines whose ends do not lie exactly together (gaps below 0.5 mm). The corners should become joints so that the contour can be edited as a whole.

Steps#

1. Select the lines of the contour — with the rubber band or Ctrl + A if nothing else lies in the drawing.
2. Choose Weld (group Constraints; with a narrow window via its triangle or the overflow menu ☰).
3. In the dialog enter Tolerance = 0.5 (1) and click Weld (2).
4. Read the result dialog: it names the number of joints and the elements that had to be shifted — with gaps this is normal. Close with OK.

Result#

A green diamond sits at every corner; if you drag a corner point at its grip, both lines follow. If the result is not right, Ctrl + Z restores the state — then try a smaller tolerance. So that future contours get joints right away, leave auto-weld switched on.
