Distribute points

Purpose#

Places evenly spaced points on an element — as a division, as measuring points or as the basis for a hole pattern and the coordinate table.

Access#

• Ribbon: group “Draw”, chevron on the Point button Point → “Distribute points” (1).
• Classic toolbar: drop-down list of the “Point” family.
• Command search : “distribute points” (category Tool).
• No keyboard shortcut.

Procedure#

1. Call the tool. The status bar reports “Distribute points: click an element (ESC ends)”.
2. Click an element — line, rectangle, circle, arc, ellipse, polyline and spline are possible.
3. A browser prompt asks for the “Number of points” (default 5, allowed 1 to 1000).
4. The points are created on the active layer; the status bar reports “n points placed — click the next element (ESC ends)”.
5. The tool stays active; Esc ends it.

How they are distributed#

The points sit at equal intervals along the element, measured by its length. On a closed element (circle, closed polyline) LiberoDraft spreads them over the whole circuit; on an open element the first and the last point lie on the ends.

Effect#

Placing is one undo step. The element clicked stays unchanged — it is not split; Split does that.
