Edit local standard part
Purpose
Opens a standard part file as a drawing: the part lies in original coordinates, a point marks the insertion point, all tools are available. After changing, you save it again with Save standard part from selection. Context: Editing local standard parts.
Access
- Panel Standard parts: button ✎ Open a local standard part for editing (3 in the picture at Standard parts); the tiles of the library have the same ✎ at the top right for parts from the server.
- Command search : type Edit standard part.
Procedure
- Click the button, choose the file. If the drawing is not empty, the browser asks: Open standard part "Name" for editing? The current drawing will be replaced (Ctrl+Z restores it).
- After OK the part lies on the canvas, fitted; the drawing switches to model space. Status line: Standard part "Name" opened for editing — modify, select and use "Save as standard part" again.
- Change, select all elements, right-click → Save as standard part, enter the same name. The new file replaces the old one on the server.
Rules
- The replaced drawing is in the undo history; Ctrl+Z brings it back.
- The helper point at the insertion point lies on the active layer; do not include it before saving — or it becomes part of the standard part.
- Dimensions, hatches, constraints, welds and groups of the file come along (as a group).
