Lengthening a part with Stretch

Goal#

A plate with a hole on the left should become 20 mm longer on the right; the hole and the left edge stay, the right edge and the adjoining lines move along.

Steps#

1. Choose Stretch in the group Modify.
2. Drag the stretch window around the right end: click the first corner (1) below right, the second corner (2) above left of the right edge — only the right endpoints lie in the window.
3. Click a base point (3), e.g. the lower right corner.
4. Enter dX = 20, dY = 0 in the field and press Enter — or click the target point (4).

Result#

The status line reports Stretched: 3 element(s): the upper and lower line are longer, the right edge is moved, the hole stands unchanged. Dimensions on the stretched lines show the new values. If the plate runs at a slant, give an edge as direction with ↗ Direction and type only the distance (giving a direction).
