Baseline dimension
Purpose
Places a series of point-to-point dimensions that all start at the same base point; the dimension lines are staggered outwards. Connections: Chain and baseline dimensions.
Access
- Ribbon: group Annotate, list of the split button Dimension, entry Baseline Baseline dimension (4 in the picture at Dimension).
- Classic toolbar: list of the split button Dimension, entry Baseline dimension.
- Command search : type Baseline dimension.
Status bar on start: Baseline dimension: click base point (use snap)….
Procedure
- Click the base point with snap.
- Click the second point with snap, position the dimension line and click — the first dimension fixes style and position.
- Place every further point with one click. Every new dimension starts again at the base point; its dimension line lies one stagger further out. The status bar counts.
- Esc ends the series (Dimension series finished).
The stagger is 2.5 times the text height of the dimensioning (factory 3.5 mm → 8.75 mm); it can be changed afterwards by dragging the individual dimension lines.
Options
The dimensions of a baseline series are ordinary point-to-point dimensions; unlike the chain they form no unit and have no running totals. All settings of the dialog apply as for other dimensions.
