Switch between ribbon and classic toolbar

Goal#

Choose the user interface that suits screen and habit: the labelled ribbon or the narrow classic toolbar — and set the ribbon to your own screen size.

Steps#

1. Fastest way: press F2. The bar switches immediately, the status bar confirms it.
2. Or open the gear on the right and click Ribbon or Classic in the row Layout.
3. In the ribbon, set Icons and Text to S, M, L or XL if needed, choose a system font under Font and control the width with Spacing Tight/Normal/Wide — every step takes effect at once.
4. If split buttons should show the tool last used from their family, set Remember variant to ON.
5. For the classic toolbar choose the icon size in the ⊞ Grid… window of the status bar under Icons.

Result#

The choice and all sizes are saved. You find gear and help button at the far right in both layouts. Factory defaults restores the ribbon with M/M/Default/Normal.
