Set up the grid

Goal#

Set up the grid so that it helps while drawing: visible or not, with a suitable level, good contrast — and with or without grid snap.

Steps#

1. Click GRID (3) at the right of the status bar to show or hide the grid.
2. Open ⊞ Grid… (4). For a fixed grid type the value in mm into the field Size (for instance 20) — Dyn. switches off, the major lines lie at 100 mm. For a grid that follows the zoom tick Dyn.: zooming in shows 5 mm and 1 mm, zooming out 50 and 100 mm.
3. Drag the slider Contrast until the lines stand out clearly but not obtrusively from the background.
4. For grid snap press G (or Grid in the tool window). If it should work with the grid hidden as well, tick Grid snap even when the grid is hidden in ⚙ Snap (1).

Result#

The status bar confirms every change (Grid manual: 20 mm, Grid: dynamic, Grid contrast: 60 %). All values are saved and apply at the next start.
