Save As
Purpose
Saves the drawing under a new name or at another location. Afterwards the new file counts as the open file for Save.
Access
- Key: Ctrl + Shift + S.
- File menu → 💾 Save As… (5).
- Status bar: click on the file name at the left.
- Command search : Save as.
Procedure
- Chrome, Edge: the system's save dialog opens with the name proposal; after Save the status bar reports Saved: Name.cad2d and the name appears in the status bar and in the browser tab.
- Firefox, Safari: the file is downloaded (browser download folder or prompt, depending on the browser setting); message Downloaded: Name.cad2d.
The name proposal is built from the drawing info: drawing no. and title joined by , plus Rev and the revision — for example Z-2026-017_Lagerplatte_RevB. Illegal characters are removed, spaces replaced by . Without entries the proposal is Unbenannt or, for the download, zeichnung.
Options
None. The file is always written as .cad2d; DXF and SVG have their own export commands in the file menu.
