Setting up viewports

Goal#

The overview at 1:2 on the left of the sheet, an enlarged detail at 2:1 on the right — the detail without the model’s dimensions.

Steps#

1. Select the existing viewport (click its frame) and move it to the left half of the sheet using the corner grips.
2. Right-click it → “⚙ Viewport settings…”. Enter the scale 1 : 2 (1), then “OK”. If the reference scale prompt appears, choose “Cancel” to keep the current model image.
3. Right-click an empty spot → “🗔 Draw new viewport” (1). Click the first and second corner on the right of the sheet.
4. Double-click into the new viewport (the frame turns orange), drag the detail into the centre and enlarge it with the wheel; a double-click next to it finishes.
5. Right-click the detail viewport → “⚙ Viewport settings…”: enter the scale 2 : 1 and clear the “Dimensions” checkbox under “Show from model” (7), then “OK”.
6. “🔒 Lock” both viewports to protect them.

Result#

Both viewports show the same model at different scales; the labels at the bottom left read “1:2” and “2:1”, with a padlock on locked viewports.
