How do I define a hatch boundary manually?

  1. Start Hatch and choose Area definition: Manual in the dialog. The snap mode switches to FREE, the buttons Hatch (Enter) and Cancel (ESC) appear.
  2. Click the boundary elements one after another. Crossing or protruding elements are allowed — the program takes the matching sub-segments. A second click on an element deselects it.
  3. As soon as the loop closes, the area is tinted semi-transparently and the status bar reports Area closed.
  4. For islands, click their outline elements as well; they are outlined with a dashed line.
  5. Press Enter or Hatch (Enter). The mode stays on Manual — choose the next area right away, or end with Automatic.

Note

The manual hatch keeps its outline as a snapshot: it is not updated after geometry changes and has no seed-point square. If the geometry changes, create it anew.

Tip

In paper space you can also click the boundary elements in the model through a viewport; a manual through-hatch is created.
