Writing a DXF

Goal#

Hand over the geometry so that it arrives unchanged in the recipient's program.

Steps#

1. If only a part is to be written, select it first.
2. File menu File → “⬇ Export DXF” (3).
3. With a selection: answer the prompt with OK (“selection only”) or Cancel (“all elements”).
4. Decide in the dialog DXF options:

• Hatches as a block if the picture must match exactly; as a hatch object if the recipient should be able to change the pattern.
• Have dimensions combined as a block so that dimension line, arrows and text stay together.
• Blocks as a block if parts are to remain parts.

1. “Export” — the file is downloaded.

Result#

A DXF file with the layers and line types of the active profile. Images are not included.
