Edit block
Purpose
Opens the definition of the selected block instance in the block editor. After saving, the changes affect all instances of this block. Context: Editing the definition.
Access
- Right-click on a selected instance → 📐 Edit block (1 in the picture).
- Panel Blocks: row button 📐 Edit block geometry (editor) of a definition.
- Block manager: select the block, ✏️ Edit.
- Command search : type Edit block (needs a selected instance).

A double-click on an instance does not open the editor but the Block manager.
Procedure
- Select the instance and start the command. The drawing is put aside; only the block geometry lies on the canvas in block-local coordinates, fitted to the view. At the top the orange banner appears: ✐ Block editor · Name — Origin (orange) = insertion point.
- Draw, change, dimension, hatch or insert further blocks with all tools. The origin (orange cross) is the insertion point — moving geometry relative to it means moving the insertion point.
- Save in the banner writes the geometry back, increases the version and updates all instances (Block „Name" saved — n element(s); all instances updated). Cancel discards everything (Block editing cancelled — no changes applied). In both cases the drawing returns with its view and undo history.

Rules
- The editor has its own undo history; Ctrl+Z only acts on the block geometry.
- The edited block cannot be inserted into itself (A block cannot contain itself).
- Only one editor at a time (The block editor is already active). A running placement is ended, a running drawing action is cancelled.
- Dimensions and hatches in the editor belong to the definition afterwards and travel into every instance (Dimensions in blocks).
- If only some instances should differ, Split off as variant is the right way.
Keys
In the editor all keys of the canvas apply. The banner can be moved by its title.
