Rectangle (3 points)

Purpose#

Draws a rectangle at any angle: instead of two opposite corners you first fix a whole side and then the width. This creates a rotated rectangle without having to rotate it afterwards.

As with the rectangle the result is a single element — or, with the corresponding option, four single lines.

Access#

• Ribbon: group Draw, triangle on the Rectangle button — entry Rectangle 3P (4).
• Classic toolbar: drop-down triangle of the rectangle family (2).
• Command search : Rectangle 3 points.

Procedure#

1. Click the start point of the first side (1).
2. Click the endpoint of the first side (2) — or type ΔX/ΔY into the floating field. This segment determines both length and inclination of the rectangle.
3. Set the width (3): click on the side the rectangle is meant to lie on, or type the value into field B and press Enter.

A first side that is too short is refused with First side too short, a width that is too small with Width too small.

Options#

The tool uses the same floating window as the rectangle — Diagonals crosswise, As single lines (exploded) and Diagonal width apply here too. The window opens with the tool and closes with it.

As with all drawing tools, object snap, the active layer and pick up attribute (J) apply.
