Point

Purpose#

Places single auxiliary points in the drawing. A point has no extent; it serves as a reference: object snap finds it with the snap kind Point, so that you can connect to it exactly later — for bolt patterns, measuring points or construction aids.

Access#

• Ribbon: group Draw, button Point (5); the triangle opens Divide points.
• Classic toolbar: drop-down triangle of the point family.
• Command search : Point.

Procedure#

Every click places a point at the snap position — the tool stays active, so you can place several points one after another. Instead of clicking you can type values into the floating field: ΔX/ΔY relative to the last point, or L and angle for polar entry.

After every point the status bar reports Point placed · (x, y) with the coordinates. Esc ends the tool.

Options#

• Points are created on the active layer and can be selected, moved and deleted like other elements.
• For the snap to find them, the snap kind Point must be switched on (snap mode).
• If you put auxiliary points on a layer of their own, you can hide it before printing (layers).
