Double line
Purpose
Draws two parallel runs of lines at a fixed gap — the usual way for walls, ducts, grooves and profiles in section. The corners are cut as a mitre, start and end are closed with a closing stroke.
The result consists of single lines: the run, the offset run and the two closing strokes. They can afterwards be changed, trimmed and deleted one by one.
Access
- Ribbon: group Draw, triangle on the Line button — entry Double line (7).
- Classic toolbar: drop-down triangle of the line family (1).
- Command search : Doppel-Linie or wall.

Procedure
- Click the start point (1) — Click the start point — the double line starts there.
- Click further points (2, 3) — Click the next point — Enter or double-click ends the run. The three-part input field L (length), ∠ (angle) and A (gap) stands at the pointer.
- End the run with Esc or a double-click.
- Pick the side (4) — Click the side — the second line lies there. The preview shows the complete double line on the mouse side; a click fixes it.

At the end the status bar reports Double line drawn (n segments, gap a). A run with only one point is not built: Double line: at least two points needed.
In step 2 the status bar mentions Enter or double-click. In fact Enter does not end the run — it only accepts the values of the input field and sets the next point. The run is completed with Esc or with a double-click (program version v3.0.24).
The gap A
The third field A of the floating input field sets the gap between the two lines. The value is remembered and offered again on the next call; the factory value is 5 mm. You can change it at any time during the run — what counts is the value at completion.
Length L and angle ∠ set the next point as with the polyline: type the value, Tab, type the second value, Enter.
Mitre and closing
At every corner the offset run is led through the intersection of the two offset straight lines — the corner is thus cleanly mitred, without overhang. Only when two consecutive segments run parallel is a simple offset used.
At the start and at the end the program draws one closing stroke each between the run and the offset run, so that a closed profile is created.
Options
- All lines are created on the active layer; pick up attribute (J) applies beforehand.
- Object snap applies to every point of the run; ORTHO keeps the segments horizontal or vertical.
- The whole run is one step for Undo.
In the German interface the instruction bar shows only the internal identifier dline without a step text for this tool; the status bar guides through the whole sequence (program version v3.0.24).
