Switch ribbon / classic toolbar
Purpose
Switches the user interface between the ribbon (wide buttons with labels and group names) and the classic, narrow toolbar. Both run the same commands; structure: Screen layout. The choice is saved; the factory default is the ribbon.
Access
- Key: F2 (without modifier) or Ctrl + Shift + R.
- Gear on the right in both layouts: row Layout, button Ribbon or Classic.
- Right-click on a free spot of the ribbon or the toolbar, or the entry Switch to the classic toolbar / Switch to the ribbon in the right-click menu of a button.
- Command search : type ribbon or classic, entry Switch ribbon / classic toolbar (category View, shortcut F2).

The switch applies immediately. Gear and help button move along — in the ribbon they sit one above the other at the right edge, in the classic toolbar side by side at the far right. Tool and favourites windows move so that they do not end up behind the bar. The status bar confirms: Ribbon view — F2 (or Ctrl+Shift+R) switches back or Classic toolbar — F2 (or Ctrl+Shift+R) switches to the ribbon.
Options
Icon size, text size, font, spacing and Remember variant of the ribbon: gear window. Icon size of the classic toolbar: Status bar — Icons. The switch itself has no undo; Factory defaults restores the ribbon.
