Cutter path around a contour

Goal#

A closed outer contour should be travelled with a cutter Ø 12 mm; the tool path (centre path, distance 6 mm) should lie in the drawing as geometry.

Steps#

1. Check that the contour is connected at all corners — gaps are closed by Weld with a small tolerance.
2. In the triangle of the family Offset choose CAM offset ; the window CAM-Offset opens.
3. Click an element of the contour (1) — the chain is tracked, the status line reports … elements selected (closed) ….
4. Enter Distance = 6 in the window; the checkbox Radii at outer corners stays set.
5. Keep the pointer outside the contour (2) — the preview shows the path outside — and click Create or right-click.

Result#

The path lies in the drawing (CAM offset: n element(s) created, distance 6.00). For a pocket keep the pointer inside; if the program reports no valid path — the offset is too large for this contour, the cutter is too large for the pocket. For a path with an allowance increase the distance accordingly.
