Mirror

Purpose#

Mirror creates mirrored copies of the selected elements at an axis that you define with two points. The originals stay — so you draw symmetrical parts by half and mirror the other half. Dimensions and hatches of the selection are mirrored along.

Access#

• Ribbon: group Modify, split button Mirror (1) — head of the family.
• Classic toolbar: group Edit, family Mirror (2).
• Command search : Mirror.
• Without a selection, post-selection begins (Mirror: click the first point of the mirror axis after accepting).

Procedure#

1. Select elements, start the tool.
2. Click the first point of the mirror axis (1) — with snap. The status line reports 2nd point of the mirror axis....
3. Click the second point (2). The axis is the straight line through both points; while you move the pointer, the preview shows the mirror image.

After the second click the copies lie in the drawing; the tool is finished, the originals remain selected.

Options and relations#

• For a vertical or horizontal axis switch ORTHO on or set the second point with the snap on a guide line.
• Dimensions on mirrored elements are mirrored along and attached to the copies; hatches come along when selected or lying within the selection.
• If the original should disappear, delete it afterwards — or use the gizmo, whose window allows mirroring in place.
• Texts are mirrored geometrically; check their readability.
