“Move / copy layer contents” dialog
One dialog in two flavours: from the “Edit Layer” dialog “⇢ Move contents …” opens the mode Move, “⧉ Copy contents …” the mode Copy; the command search knows both as Move layer contents and Copy layer contents.

To layer
All other layers by number; locked with 🔒, hidden with 👁🗨. Default when moving: the active layer. In copy mode “➕ New layer (copy of "…")” is on top and preselected — it is created on “OK” with colour, line type, widths and pattern values of the source under the name “… (Kopie)” (“… (Kopie) 2” etc. if the name exists).
Keep colour and line width of the objects
Default. The objects look as before although they now belong to another layer — until the next “OK” in the target's layer editor, which writes the layer's colour and width onto all its elements.
Take colour, line width and line type from the target layer
Adapts the objects at once: colour and screen width of the target, own line styles are removed (block instances keep their look).
Delete the empty source layer afterwards
Move mode only. Deletes the emptied source layer with the same consequences as the “Delete layer” dialog.
Cancel, OK
“OK” checks first: locked source (move only) → “Layer "…" is locked. Move its contents anyway?”; locked target → “Target layer "…" is locked. Move the contents there anyway?” or “… Copy the contents there anyway?”. Then one undo step and the status bar: “n object(s) moved from layer "…" to layer "…"”, “n object(s) moved to layer "…" — layer "…" deleted” or “n object(s) copied from layer "…" to layer "…"”. After copying the copies are selected.
Rules
- Taken along are elements, hatches, dimensions of the open space and, when moving, the contents of all block definitions.
- Moving with only one layer: “No other layer available”. Copying needs no second layer.
- Copies are made via the clipboard path — with fresh identifiers, constraints, welds, block references and bindings; hatches of foreign layers within the outline of the selection are discarded.
