Create and assign layers

Goal#

An own layer “Bohrungen” in green holding the holes of a plate — newly drawn or moved there afterwards.

Steps#

1. Click “＋ New” (1) in the “Layers” section. “Layer 6” appears at the end of the list and is active.
2. Click the new row a second time (or “✎ Edit” (2)). In the “Edit Layer” dialog enter the name “Bohrungen” (2), choose the colour (3), check line type and widths, “OK”.
3. Draw circles — they land on the active layer and take colour and width.
4. Assign existing circles afterwards: select the circles, in the “Properties” panel under “To layer” (2) choose the layer “Bohrungen”. The elements adopt colour and width of the layer.

Result#

The status bar confirms every step (“New layer created”, “Layer "Bohrungen" updated”, “5 elements moved to layer "Bohrungen"”). The eye of the new row now hides all holes at once.
